What is The School?

The Arthur Krempin School of Music & Art is an organization affiliated with First English Lutheran Church in Appleton, Wisconsin that serves the Fox Cities community. 

Named in memory of a gifted musician, faithful pastor and loving father, The School views the arts as a gifts of grace that reflect God’s love and creative abundance.

Where is it located?

The Arthur Krempin School is located within the downtown site of First English, on the corner of Drew and North Streets.  Classrooms, rehearsal and gallery spaces are located there in the church’s education wing, facilities that are shared with this vibrant congregation throughout the week.  

What is its purpose?

The Arthur Krempin School of Music & Art exists to enrich life for people in the Fox Cities by connecting faith, music and art.

All are warmly invited to participate in its programs, to share with, learn from and be inspired by others – musicians, artists and enthusiasts alike.  

What types of programs does it offer?

The School offers a wide variety of programs including many one-time or “bite-sized” learning opportunities as well as these popular recurring activities:     

Summer Chamber Music: a popular 8-9 week annual program that offers musicians of all ages and skill levels the opportunity to learn and share great music together.  Groups meet weekly and are coached by Laura Kenney Henckel, principal cellist of the Fox Cities and Green Bay Symphony Orchestras.  Summer sessions conclude with groups offering special music during Sunday worship services, followed by a mid-day recital. Art Week: a popular mid-summer annual event that engages youth in the visual arts.  Imaginations soar as students explore faith and art while creating and learning techniques in a variety of art media. Students meet daily and are led by a summer intern; sessions are tailored to students grade K-3, 4-6 and 7-12.

How is it supported?

The Arthur Krempin School of Music & Art is incorporated as a non-profit organization. 

Funding for its programs comes primarily from people of the community as charitable, tax-deductible donations.  As a non-profit organization, these donations may be eligible for matching gifts through employers’ programs.  

Other funding is provided through nominal program fees or as grants that enable others to participate without cost. Your financial support is sincerely appreciated. 

How is it led?

The Arthur Krempin School of Music & Art is led by a board of directors comprised of representatives from the community as well as the First English Lutheran congregation.
