Weddings

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. As much as we love the joy of that special day, our focus at First English is to set up each couple for a successful marriage! If you or a parent are a member of First English Lutheran Church, either one of our beautiful Sanctuaries is available to you. If you are not a member, but belong to another congregation, we make decisions about these weddings on a case-by case-basis. For information on becoming a member, please click here

The first step in having a wedding at First English is to connect with our Wedding Ministry Coordinator, Kathy Larson (klarson@felc.com). When you meet, she will give you the preliminary wedding packet and answer any questions. She will also receive your nonrefundable $100 deposit that will secure the date, and set you up for the following:

  • Prepare-Enrich assessment. This online survey identifies a couple’s strength and growth areas in order to strengthen relationships.
  • “Building a Successful Christian Marriage” workshop. This Saturday morning workshop is held each spring and allows you to ask questions about weddings at FELC, to learn about the Prepare-Enrich assessment, and to participate in other relationship building activities.
  • Marriage Mentor couple: Marriage Mentors have been trained in helping you interpret the results of your Prepare-Enrich assessment, and have a heart for helping build strong loving marriages.
  • Officiating Pastor: You will meet with your Pastor 30 to 90 days before the wedding. At the meeting, you will plan the wedding ceremony (a Christian worship service) and the pastor will also have the opportunity to learn more about you as a couple.
