Summer 2013!

Welcome to summer at First English Lutheran Church. Summer 2013 promises to be a tremendously busy, fun and exciting summer.  The 2013 Summer Interns are anxious to get to know you and to begin summer programming.  You are invited to find a way to get involved in the fun. The interns can provide you with something special: skilled and enthusiastic instructors who will also spread the message of Christ’s love.  
 

Children and Family

  • KidsCLUB: June 18-July 25,  Age 5-Grade 5*, Tues., Wed., Thurs.   Bring Your Own Lunch: 11:30 a.m. Program: 12:15-3 p.m. Zion Lutheran Church, 912 N. Oneida St., Appleton, WI   54911.  Held at Zion Lutheran Church and staffed by FELC interns, KidsCLUB is an energetic, engaging ministry for kids of the neighborhood, the community and the congregations.  Elementary school kids will enjoy an afternoon packed with a wide variety of games, arts and crafts and service projects.  This is a drop-in activity.  Kids are welcome for part or all of the afternoon on any day(s) they choose to participate. No registration necessary; however, a 2013-14 Youth Ministry Release Form must be on file for each child.
  • Bucket Band: Thursdays, beginning June 20 (please note: Thursday is the correct day-changed from Wednesday for Grades K-5*)  3:30-5 p.m., beginning June 20. Grades K-5*, Choir Room, Downtown SiteMake a joyful noise using drum sticks and 5 gallon pails.  Sound intriguing?  Be a part of the Bucket Band this summer. 
  • Art Week: July 22-26. Age 5-Grade 3* (9-10 a.m.), Grades 4-6* (10:30 a.m.-noon),  Grades 7-12* (2-4:30 p.m.),  Adult classes (6:30-8:30 p.m.). Cost: $10 per student. Room 014, Downtown Site. Faith and imagination collide as artists are born!  Explore new techniques and create masterpieces in a variety of art mediums.   All supplies provided.
  • Day Camp: July 29-Aug. 1, Grades K-Grade 5*, 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Plamann Park Chris Brandt Shelter. An old favorite of some of our current interns, Day Camp offers a glimpse into an overnight camp experience, but without the overnights.  Elementary school students will meet at Plamann Park for fun-filled days including songs, skits, games, Bible Study and outdoor adventures!  Middle and High School students, you can get involved by volunteering as a "cabin" group leader!
  • VBS: Aug. 5-8, Age 3-Grade 5*, 9 a.m.-Noon, FELC North Site. Cost: $5 per student; $15 max per family. An opportunity to connect kids to God, create change in their hearts, and give them opportunities to share God’s love with others.

*When registering, please use the grade completed in spring of 2013.



 Middle School, High School and Young Adult

  • reFUEL: Wednesdays beginning June 12, Grades 6-12* and Young Adult, 7:30-9 p.m., North Site. Join your friends and the Summer Interns after worship for outreach, learning and fellowship. Campfires and volleyball are sure to happen here! 
  • HS Camp-Out @ High Cliff: If you are in high school, adventurous and are interested in camping with Billy and other interns on Friday, June 14, sign up now!
  • Coffee & Conversation: Mondays beginning June 17, Grades 8-12*, 4-5 p.m. High school ladies and gents! We’d love for you to join the interns for coffee and some real talk. Meet downtown at Harmony Café - it will be awesome!
  • Young Adult Fellowship: College-aged and early adult years Mondays beginning June 17, 6:30 p.m. North SiteCome join other young adults for a meal and conversation related to real life issues and questions.  All are welcome!
  • Faith and Fellowship: Tuesdays beginning June 18, Grades 6-8*, 1-3 p.m., Downtown Site. Invite your friends and join the interns for service, activities and tons of fun!  Something new each week!
  • Bucket Band: Wednesdays beginning June 19, 8:30-9 p.m., Grades 6-12*,   Lower Level, North SiteMake a joyful noise using drum sticks and 5 gallon pails.  Sound intriguing?  Be a part of the Bucket Band this summer. 
  • Buffalo Wild Wings: Thursdays beginning June 20,Grades 8-12*,11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Calumet St. Buffalo Wild Wings. Meet up with your High School Interns and grab some grub at Buffalo Wild Wings - east side!  Great opportunity for food, fellowship and fun!  (Students are responsible for cost of their own lunch.)
  • Mount Olympus: June 21. $25 provides your bus ride, admission into the water park, and a hot dog lunch. If you are entering grades 7-12 or are a 2013 high school graduate…SIGN UP!!

All Ages

  • Wednesday Night Worship: Wednesdays beginning June 12, 6:30 p.m., North Site.  This is a wonderful mid-week worship opportunity - an Intern-led, spirit-filled service of music, message and communion. Bring a friend to this rejuvenating service.
  • Grill and Greet: The Intern Enrichment  Ministry Team invites you and your family to kick off the summer at this year’s “Grill and Greet” on Wednesday, June 12, from  5-6:30 p.m. at the North Site. Take advantage of this awesome opportunity to grab a bite to eat and meet the 2013 Summer Interns! Don’t miss the first Wednesday Night Worship of the summer following the meal.
  • Monday Morning Gardening: Join the interns and other garden lovers for the joy of working in the Seeds of Grace Learning Garden at the Downtown Site Monday mornings from 10-11 a.m. Help make this garden a beautiful place for learning and growing!
  • Golf League: Enjoy nine holes of golf at area courses with intern Joe Hujet.  Golfers will meet every other Friday beginning June 28 at 2 p.m.  You can sign up for all of the weeks or pick the weeks you are available. Sign up now or for more information, call Joe in the church office after June 5. 
  • Summer Choir: For all ages 3 to 103 - invite friends and come join the Summer Choir at FELC.   Rehearsals  will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, June 24, Monday, July 22 and Monday, Aug. 12  at the North Site with the choir singing at the Wednesday worship service following the rehearsal. This will be a fun and inspiring opportunity. No experience needed and no need to sign up - see you at rehearsal!

Please register here for all activities.  Some of the activities do not require registration, but it is helpful for planning to know how many are interested in a program for supply purposes.

All participants under the age of 18 need to complete a  current FELC Ministry Release Form.  Copies of this form are available in the church office or by clicking the link below.  Youth will not be allowed to participate without a signed form.
