Renewed Strategic Planning for FELC’s Future is Underway
At separate retreats in the spring of 2011, the Congregation Council and the ministry teams concluded that the time was right to renew strategic planning for FELC’s future. Simply stated, there is a widespread consensus that the ministry of FELC is at an exciting juncture and is ready to accelerate to new heights. So we’re set to take off, but the question then becomes, do we know which road to take (our mission), and what the destination looks like (the vision)? What are the core values that make us tick and what boundaries must we abide by on our journey? Does our current mission and vision provide what’s needed and we just need to understand it more clearly?
These are some of the questions being studied by a small group commissioned by the Council. Perhaps unprecedented, another group meets simultaneously to support the small group with prayer. What an inspiration!
The first priority has been to review and understand in detail the positive results and insights from previous strategic planning, so that this may be carried forward. You may or may not be aware that a significant amount of strategic planning was done in 2005, 2007, and 2008. Also, a study is underway on the state of church, the post-modern culture, and society. We need to put our strategic plans in the context of the real world.
The group began work in November of 2011 and is expected to continue through spring of 2012. It is comprised of the following members: Pastor Jeff, Dan Baumbach, Steve Ford, Shannon Howard, Rudi Pakendorf, Sara Snyder, and Jen Wageman.
Plans are being made to inform and to broaden involvement in this important work. If you have things you would like to share, please reach out to a member of the above mentioned group. Communication is everyone’s responsibility.
