Items that may require Council action: None
Items that may require budget/finance coordination: None
Important items of information:
CHART History Subgroup is sorting memorabilia for Aug. 13 North Site 10th
Anniversary.
Vacation Bible School is Aug. 4-7: Rainforest Adventure
Preschool curriculum evaluation: Task Force has completed their work. The decision is
to continue with the current curriculum. Kristi Picken will help coordinate
library books to read for the Bible story.
Discussed ELCA churchwide Book of Faith Initiative. Since the discipleship model encourages reading the
Bible as one of the marks of discipleship, stay with our current terminology
instead of “Book of Faith Initiative” terminology at this time. Too many
different descriptions are confusing.
Develop ways to emphasize
reading the Bible; e.g. read New Testament in a year, read Bible as a family
Review the terminology Andy
Moscinski introduced with Family & Youth Ministry to be consistent in
communications.
Library:
new logo for library being used in newsletters and print; new library books
purchased at synod assembly by Mil Herder
Wednesday LIFT: put invitation in newsletter for members to lead 1-3 week workshops on
an area of their passion or specialization; Consider ways to refresh the prayer
emphasis in the fall.
Adult Learning Time: Peter Peregrine volunteered to lead Sunday Downtown
Adult Learning Time in the fall.
Bethel Bible: need to contact Mary Vandenberg to see if she can teach in the fall.
Member involvement: Karen Herbrich, Health Ministry Task Force & Learning Ministry Team
are working on ideas to increase involvement of parents of children baptized at
FELC. Will team with LMT in some areas. This may be an area to develop for a
grant request. Resource people Lori Hartz, Lou Chicquette.
Teacher Recruitment: will post needs in newsletter and bulletin board.
Pamela is writing an article from a new teacher viewpoint for the newsletter.
Confirmation parent evaluation summary of replies being e-mailed to those who participated
and gave their name on the evaluation or attended the forum. Will have a few
parents help review changes for the fall.
Spiritual Gifts: Pastor Dismer reported from Congregational Life that they’d like to use
the Spiritual Gifts Inventory as a part of fall Time & Talent awareness.
LMT strongly agreed with the idea and suggested we have them available when
church directory photos are taken.
Lay school: is accepting
applications for the fall.
