- Wed.
LIFT: reviewed schedule and classes being planned. Confirmation Parent
Task Force input is being addressed with changes for fall. In order to
have youth leading worship on Wed. nights, there is a need for additional
volunteer help during Wed. LIFT, since we have 1˝ less staff in the Youth and Learning
area since Meghan is gone and Anita is half-time.
- Teacher
recruitment: still need teachers at both sites. Use weekly e-mail
connection.
- CHART
subgroup has memorabilia for Aug. 13 North Site 10th anniversary.
- Vacation
Bible School Aug. 4-7: Rainforest Adventure had about 150 students and 50
volunteers. The students were very responsive to the excellent activity
centers. Include comments of thanks by parents in newsletter spotlight
with other stories from the summer and thanks to the interns.
- Discussed
ELCA churchwide Book of Faith Initiative. Will be looking for more
resources from the ELCA. Since the discipleship model encourages reading
the Bible as one of the marks of discipleship, stay with our current
terminology instead of “Book of Faith Initiative” terminology at this
time. Too many different descriptions are confusing.
- Peter
Peregrine will lead the study of Philippians for Sunday Downtown Adult
Learning in the fall.
- Karen
Herbrich, Health Ministry Task Force & Learning Ministry Team working
on ideas to increase involvement of new parents. Will start with prayer
partners and meals for family at the time child arrives.
- Spiritual
Gifts Inventory is being distributed at church directory photo sessions
and will be a part of fall Time & Talent awareness this fall.
- Lay school accepting applications for the fall.
- Possible
goals for 2009: 1) Bible study on a Mon. or Tues. during the time Christian
Cooperative Preschool meets downtown 2) Bible study at Echoes.
- Kathie
will bring her new Bible. Augsburg will have a new Lutheran Study Bible in
2009.
