Important items of information:
Chairwoman:
Ellen will be taking a position on the Council so she will not be the chairwoman
of this ministry team. Jean Monson will fill in as interim chairwoman until
another is appointed.
Health ministry update:
- Diane Bemis led a LIFT class on Home Alone
Safety for Parents, which we hope to offer again.
- Special Friends is launched, but needs more
volunteers.
- Blood drive suggestions: do on weeknight instead
of Sunday; put poster on separate easel to attract more eyes; do evening
instead of morning; sign-up on table with person instead of just on
bulletin board; do in conjunction with activity (rally Sunday, picnic,
evening worship, etc); do at only one site; August and December are next
dates, do August at North Site with interns to help (and donate?), not to
correspond with diamond celebration; December date to be done Downtown.
New Member Sessions: Lots of energy with new member group; suggestions to
start young parents group like men’s ministry, as Bible study or play groups,
as interested.
Grant-writing project for young parents group to be evaluated by #
baptized versus # enrolled in Sunday school (need core committee to start
grant-writing details).
Babysitting at church: Long-term plan is to have December babysitting day
for kids to be dropped off at church for 4 hrs (or longer with more
volunteers), and ask for suggestions from young parents about group starting.
Church directory: The first pictorial directory meeting was held last week. Olan Mills
was cited as vendor. Emilie Larson is coordinator. Bob Damon will help with
layout and Margaret Zweig and Sheryl Moard and Jean Monson are also on
committee working on directory. First picture-taking day is in July (13 days of
pictures through August).
Upcoming fellowship events:
- June 8th is men’s ministry potluck gathering.
- June 1 is picnic: no dunk tank, but climbing
wall and smoothie machine.
- Timber Rattler game June 21, with temple talks
and ticket sales during next couple of weeks. There will be a drawing at
the Rattlers game, so have one ticket per person and have people bring all
tickets along.
- Fox Valley Symphony event. Milly Rugland is
handling ticket sales for June 14 activity. With 20 tickets sold; 20%
discount on ticket price will occur. Prediscount price is $15 for adults
and $7.50 for students. Deadline: May 30.
- August 2008: 10th anniversary of North Site
worshiping. Looking at May 21 or 28 for initial planning meeting. Will
work in conjunction with the Learning Ministry Team, since they do have
pictures and history.
- 50+ activities are well under way.
June agenda items:
- Time & Talent: Consider changing volunteer
fair format. Possibly work with Learning about having congregation explore
spiritual gifts. Give some thought to alternate ideas.
- Dave’s farewell celebration planning.
- Revisit prayer ministry.
