Items proposed to Support
Old business:
- The Property Oversight Committee is resuming
their regular monthly meetings after a 3-month summer break. Committee
reviewed its reports sent out to committee members in June, July and
August:
- NS chiller units needed some repair earlier in
the summer.
- State elevator certification is in order.
- Phone line service was needed in June and July;
part of the problem was rusted and corroded wires at the box which was
repaired by AT&T. Another part of the problem was the security part of
the phone lines. Phone line destinations were also determined and labeled.
- Office directional signs at the DS are needed.
Jenell will inquire vendors and costs.
- The office, previously occupied by Anita and
Donna and now by Pastor Mary, is still leaking. A contract has been signed
with ARL to do a more extensive repair, since the first repair in May did
not fix the problem.
- Paul upgraded the NS fire pit to meet Appleton
fire code. The pit was used on a regular basis all summer.
- Ted Meyer graciously mowed the perimeter of the
NS property on July 12. Thank you, Ted, for providing this service.
- Quilting cupboards and boxes at the DS have been
moved into one of the cubby spaces in fellowship hall. The carpet in the
back area has been removed. This area continues to leak and is very musty
and moldy, even with dehumidifiers running.
- An inquiry was made into the reason why the NS
parking lot has not been restriped. A follow-up call was made to Harold
Gensler concerning this issue. It is highly recommended that the parking
lot be sealed before it is striped – approximate cost of sealing/striping
would be $3,000 to 4,000. This is not a budget item or priority for 2008.
- Committee discussed the DS garage situation.
Walt will check into the progress of this issue.
New business:
- Paul reported on several more leaks at the DS.
After discussion, it was requested of Paul to take note and compile any
leaking areas, with a suggestion to look into the cost of fixing the whole
roof area in comparison to fixing all the leaks separately.
- The committee discussed the NS security system.
JLS Electric has been maintaining the system with the support and help of
LAPPEN Security. A cost comparison was presented from both the current
provider Sentinal Security and LAPPEN Security. The committee was also
informed that the system is missing a state-required quality. After
further discussion, the committee unanimously agreed to extend a 2009
contract to LAPPEN Security.
- Paul reported on the AC unit problem in the DS
art room. This will be added to the 2009 budget items to be considered.
- DS window washing will not be happening this
year, because of low revenue and crippled budget.
- The committee reviewed several snow removal bids
for the upcoming 2008-09 season. The final decision has been tabled until
the October meeting when further information will be compiled and
reviewed.
- A request has been made for ceiling fans for the
DS kitchen. Jody will talk to Brenda about this need and go forward under
her direction.
- Beginning this fall the YMCA is using 2 rooms in
the LL of the NS facility for some children’s programming.
- The committee began work on the compilation of
2009 proposed property budget items.
Next meeting: 6 p.m. on
Monday, Oct. 20, 2008 at FELC North Site.
