Reviewed/compared 2008 – 2009 pledges/gift report

o 2008 – 382 pledges = $743,000

o 2009 – 344 pledges = $756,055 as of Dec 15, 2008

What motivates people to give? Forty 2008 pledging units did not commit to a pledge for 2009. Why?

2009 stewardship program focus

o Difference between giving to and be committed to

o Stewardship messages need to appeal to motivations

ü Youth

ü Age-focused fellowship groups

ü Educate and promote endowments

o (Missing piece) Informing members of where we are financially throughout the year

2009 stewardship plan

o Plan 3 to 4 temple talks throughout the year with this format:

§ Member of Stewardship Committee thanking members for their continued financial support of FELC

§ Member of Stewardship Committee or Financial Committee give brief financial report to date

§ Member of ministry team whose program is being highlighted for the given Sunday (e.g. music) promotes that FELC ministry program with support of a PowerPoint.

o Search for and support a person who is willing to educate and promote endowments.

Rick volunteered to present a financial update and make the introduction of the ministry being highlighted in February at the NS. (If we highlight the music ministry at FELC, would you, Cindi, be willing to update the information you compiled last year and be the spokesperson for the DS?)

Steve has resigned the chair position of the Stewardship Committee. A new chair is needed. Please prayerfully consider this opportunity. We will elect a new chair at our February meeting.
