Items that may require Council action: None
Items that may require budget/finance coordination: None
Finance/budget review:
- Look into possibly finding money in our budget
to pay for a music coordinator for the 9:15 a.m. worship services.
Important items of information:
- Reviewed Thanksgiving services, which were well
attended. We will keep the service schedules and sites the same for 2009.
- Reviewed Advent and Christmas service changes. We
will need to coordinate the balcony decorations and the children’s choir
performance next year. Jeff is looking into getting the processes for the
Advent/Christmas decorating available online so it is easier to
communicate what needs to be done. Services were well attended. Look into
spreading out the choirs over more services and printing the hymns, as the
Downtown Site ran out of hymnals at the 4:30 p.m. service.
- Jeff will continue working on getting the memorial
list online. There will be a note in the bulletin with information on how
to access it and how to get new ideas added.
- We will spend the majority of our next meeting
planning our protocol group procedure.
- We discussed moving to two Downtown Site
services to ease traffic congestion and reduce demands on our pastors. (A
topic resulting from the “Ask the Pastor” feature.) After thoughtful
discussion, we elected to continue the service schedule as is.
- We need more people to host the Wittenberg Choir
members on Tuesday, March 10. Each host would accommodate two performers, provide
beds that evening and breakfast the next morning.
- In lieu of sermons on Sunday, April 19, high
school seniors will give faith talks at all services and possibly choose their
favorite hymns.
- Our over-arching theme during Lent will be
“Watch and Pray,” with sub themes for each Sunday. Looking ahead to next
year, we would like to have something special for the Good Friday evening
service.
- Regarding the 9:15 a.m. Downtown Site service,
song leaders still are needed. There has been a good response from
instrumentalists. It may be necessary to recruit a coordinator to arrange
rehearsals. This would require additional funding for our personnel
budget. Lee will begin introducing the jazz liturgy he has written at the
9:15 a.m. service during Lent. We heard some of the liturgy and it sounds
exciting.
- We need new Worship Ministry Team members,
particularly from the Downtown site. We were asked to find new recruits to
join us.
