Items that may require Council action: None
Items that may require budget/finance coordination: None
Important items of information:
- Change in minute-taking protocol: When we break
into separate groups, each group will have someone taking minutes. The
minutes are then to be typed up and e-mailed to the person who has that
month. That person will be in charge of submitting everything.
- Update on music directors: Bob Whitton started 2
months ago at the North Site.
Melissa Moll will start Sept. 1 at the Downtown Site. Our team
hosted a reception for Matt Turner last Sunday. The choir will host a
reception for Melissa sometime in the middle of September. We would like
to host a reception for Bob; we will talk to Jean to see who is in charge
of particular coffee hours. We are thinking about ordering a cake and
having flowers. We also will hold a coffee hour for Mark Paisar on Aug. 31
to recognize his hard work and commitment to First English. We will
contact the person who is in charge of that coffee hour to order cake. In
the future, we would like to recognize our volunteer musicians with a
reception as well. It would be ideal to do this once a year.
- Jeff will lead the North Site group when we
separate. We want between 4-6 members in each subgroup. One more member
for each subgroup would be ideal. We will come up with ideas for people
for our next meeting. Kathy will contact Jean for people for task forces
or to join our ministry team.
- We are concerned that it is falling to Janelle
to take care of the chancel area at the North Site. Jeff will contact the worship assistants about having them take care
of the banners and the baptismal water (as needed).
- We hope to finish our protocol review by the end
of this year. Kathy has members for these review groups already set.
- The first step is to survey the congregation at
each service on Rally Sunday. We will include the survey in the bulletins
but on a larger piece of paper and on a different color. At the North
Site we will need to hand out pencils. We will give a brief announcement
about the surveys and then collect them (in person) after the service.
Kathy will put an announcement in the newsletter. We want to include our
guiding principle on the survey.
- Then we will give the surveys to the
corresponding review groups for them to tabulate the results. They will
use this data along with the worship characteristics and protocols to
address these points: Decide where we are and why that is. Where do we
want to go? Why?
- The groups will report back to our ministry
team with results and we would take it from there.

We will be
putting Advent on the agenda for September. Bob Lyle agreed to build a manger
for us. We need to decide on what we specifically want. We will ask Jenelle
where the nativity items we currently have are stored so we can determine what
it is we need.
