Discover Your Call

Knowing and living out God’s call is essential to living a joy-filled and meaningful Christian life.  God does not only call pastors and professional church staff. Rather, God calls everyone. More importantly, God is CALLING YOU. God’s unique vision for you will shape all aspects of life from work, church, and community to family and friends. Plans are well underway for an exciting seminar that will be taking place at First English.  On Friday evening, April 13 and Saturday, April 14 Pastor Wendy Berthelsen will be our guest to facilitate the seminar DISCOVER YOUR CALL: A Personal Faith Journey for You!

Have you often wondered:

  • Who Am I?
  • How can I make a difference in the world; within my family, work, community and church?
  • How can I live a deeper life with God?

Seminar Background:

The apostle Paul wrote to the ordinary everyday Christians of his time and to all of us: “I am earnestly calling you to walk in conformity with the calling to which you were called.”  (Ephesians 4:1) Paul is saying, you have a call, now get to it… walk, act and live in a way that matches with the incredible worth and weightiness of this calling that you have been given

As God is calling everyone and we all have a call, can there be anything in your life more important than for you to hear, answer, and know the fullness of this call as revealed in the Scriptures?  This alone is reason enough to seek and know God’s call.  It is essential to be who God desires for you to be.

Furthermore, throughout history, our Lord has always accomplished his transformative work in the world through calling and empowering ordinary people just like you.  You and I are indispensable to our Lord’s masterful plans to transform and redeem a broken world in Jesus name.

The vision of discipleship for FELC:

“Everyone wants to feel unique. Everyone wants to feel special. The good news, no, the great news, is that you are! Pastor Wendy Berthelsen helps us explore our gifts and the gifts of those in our homes, our churches, and our workplaces. She makes abundantly clear the biblical truth that we are wonderfully made for a divine purpose! There has been a lot of confusion over spiritual gifts and natural talents. Pastor Berthelsen helps to bring clarity and integration to gifts, talents, skills, and calling. As the leader of a very large organization, I have learned that we all have unique strengths and weaknesses, gifts and talents, and that we can be of most use to the Kingdom of God and happiest in our life when we bring these all into alignment. You have a custom designed life—find it and live it!”

Dr. Morris Vaagenes

Senior Pastor Emeritus, North Heights Lutheran Church

“Few church members seem to grasp that God has a calling on their life, that the Spirit has gifted them to fulfill their ministry, or that this is not only for just those in paid ministry. Wendy Berthelsen makes a compelling case that each believer is designed and equipped for a unique calling. Think of the transformational power of church life as these truths are discovered and lived out! Having known Wendy Berthelsen for a long time as her pastor and friend, I have been impressed with her exemplary life, faith, creativity, and ministry.”
