100 Year Anniversary

Celebrating 100 Years

For the Lord is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations. - Psalm 100:5

Thanks be to the Lord and to all who participated in the May 22 First English centennial anniversary events. Guest pastors were warmly welcomed at the four worship services and their sermons can be found on our website. The birthday posters by the Sunday School children, music by the choirs and musicians lifted our hearts in praise. The history displays, nostalgic chicken dinner and program reminded us of the rich heritage and many areas of worship, fellowship and service which beckon people to “Live Your Call.”

On Saturday evening, June 11, current and former interns and special guests gathered for an anniversary celebration and a very memorable evening.  The gathering provided a time for fellowship and a wonderful dinner of Biblical foods with a theme of serving one another.

Sunday, June 12 was a wonderful day for First English Lutheran Church, celebrating the 15th anniversary of the North Site location, the 25th anniversary of the Summer Intern Program and the 100
th anniversary of the congregation. The Holy Spirit filled the church in amazing ways. It was an inspirational service of great music from our previous and current interns and messages from three pastors who are sons of our congregation, Dave Lyle, Ben Cieslik, and C.J. Boetcher.  Greetings were given by FELC former pastor George Detweiler. Chris Quello, shared the history of the North Site, the Summer Intern Program and also shared June 12 was the 50th anniversary of his ordination.

Thank you to the worship participants and those who put forth countless hours to plan all the wonderful anniversary events this year. Thanks be to God for the many blessings and the rich heritage of First English Lutheran Church.
