Dancing, Dining, and Day Camp! by Summer Intern Sally Eronson
June 6, 2014

What a fun-filled week it has been for First English. The Church Picnic on Sunday, June 1 was an awesome experience for those of the community to come together. As the Penny Wars came to an end, the long-awaited verdict for the picnic banana dancer was finally revealed... Congratulations Pastor Bryan! Over a whopping $3,000 was raised from the challenge yet only 6 dollars separated the pastors' outcome. Bryan took the penny victory like a champ and danced his heart out with the summer interns. A job very well done to him! Feel free to get a kick out of the "banana dance" by clicking here.

The Wednesday Night Grill and Greet on June 4 was a wonderful way to welcome the summer interns into their new positions. As an intern myself, I felt overwhelmed with the support, encouragement, and open arms of the entire congregation, staff, and FELC community. Following the Grill and Greet was the summer's first Wednesday Night Worship in which the interns were blessed by their friends and family to prepare them for the exciting summer of God's work ahead.

Coming up on Monday, June 9 is Day Camp for Grades K-6 in which elementary children will be coming together at Plamann Park for an action-packed day of skits, songs, games, Bible studies, and various outdoor adventures including a water day and a farm visit! Through all the fun, this year's focus will be geared toward outreach, learning, prayer, and friendship. High school and middle school volunteers will be working with the interns to provide the younger youth with many memorable and joyous experiences filled with God's word.

High Schoolers... get ready for Game Night on Tuesdays starting June 10 at 5:30 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Downtown Site in the Youth Room! It'll be a great time to hangout and have fun with your friends and some goofy interns (myself included).

So do you think you can dance? Parker Baerenwald is starting his Ballroom Dancing Class for all ages starting Tuesday, June 10 at 7 p.m. in the North Site Gym. Don't have a partner? Don't worry about it! Come by yourself or bring a friend as everyone will be partnered up. No prior dancing experience is needed. This will be loads of fun so don't miss it!

Have a wonderful week everyone and maybe lend an extra hand of love to someone in need.

For even I, the Messiah, am not here to be served, but to help others, and to give my life as a ransom for many. -Mark 10:45
