Greetings from New Orleans!
July 19, 2012
After another long bus ride we arrived in New Orleans. Our word for today was patience. Lots of waiting today as we got checked into the hotel and then the conference. It was all worth it when we got to the Superdome for worship. A great start to our faith journey. Our speaker was Rev. Nadia Bolz-Weber founding pastor of House for All Sinners and Saints in Denver, Colorado. There was a great deal of controversy around Pastor Nadia speaking due to her outward appearance of tattoos and stories of an alcoholic and drug addicted past. She talked about her past but in the context that God brought her out of that. She talked about her church where all are welcome and and how she started the church for people who needed a safe place to be with God or learn about God for the first time. She was encouraged by the audience of over 33,000 Lutherans and believers by several standing ovations.
Our walk home needed yet more patience as the rain was pouring down. By the time we got to our hotel we were all soaking wet. As we entered our hotel we were greeted by Marriott staff with towels and again we say...
