About This Blog...
Hi! My name is Olivia Newhouse and I am an intern this summer at First English Lutheran Church. This is a blog that will be a behind the scenes account of all the things that happen at First English in the summer. I am excited to provide another outlet of our continuous faith journey.

Kids Life and Planning
July 30, 2019
This week has been very productive. I started the week finishing up prep for vacation bible school and Kids Life. This was only my second week at Kids Life this summer so I was excited to do something new that wasn't a normal part of my schedule. It was a quiet week this week because many of the high school kids were on the Mission Trip. One of my favorite parts of the week was when refuel, which is normally for high schoolers, turned into refuel for middle school kids. That night was also host to the Middle School Lock-in. A few interns stayed the entire night with the kids. I am happy I didn't have to as I would have been grumpy all day with lack of sleep, but I did miss getting to spend the night with the kids at church. I was able to stay for refuel and got to play catchphrase with the kids. This was very fun and competative.

Another uplifting part of my week was when the interns attended Eagle Piont Homes and hung out with some of the residents. It was so nice spending time and talking with the residents and the other interns. I had the most fun playing (mostly learning) Sheeps Head with the residents. Madi Howard and I played together as we are still newbies to the game. We lost almost every hand, but had a relaxing time. I hope to eventually be able to play the game without a cheat sheet, but I don't think that will happen any time soon. With the help of good teachers at Eagle Piont, I could become a great Sheeps Head player.

This coming week should be a lot of fun as it is Vacation Bible School Week. From now on please refer to me as "Miss Craft Lady" as I am running all the crafts for the week. I will be lucky if I don't stain every intern shirt I own. I am excited for the coming week and will cherish these remaining weeks of the summer!
